Born in 1976 and already working as a babywear fitting model in the former family owned knitwear & CMT business.
Unfortunately during my school years our family business did not survive the industry shift from quality product buying to buying on price only. Hence my family insisted I studied another trade, first communication and later on architecture. But textiles and clothing clearly remained in my blood as during a 1 week holiday job for a fashion designer I felt as if I was finally at home.
Therefore I decided to work full time for multiple Fashion Designers like Dries Van Noten often travelling abroad to oversee production in multiple production facilities. Which at a certain point led to moving/living abroad and hoping around from factory to factory. Learning at the same how the commercial brands function and finally ended up working as Quality Assurance Department Manager for C&A Global.
My main responsibilities were quality assurance, safety compliance and product sustainability.
Having experienced how the global mass production industry became less and less sustainable I decided to put my energy in the service of SMEs and now work for the Belgian Industry Federation Creamoda.
Confident that “think global and act local” will result in a return towards a more balanced & sustainable industry where local craftsmanship & mass production will coexist in an harmonious circular economy.
