From textiles to physics and back to textiles describes the career path of Jan Laperre best. He went to a technical school in textiles but became passioned by physics and went to the university to study physics and completed his studies with a PhD. The unique combination of textiles & physics brought him to Centexbel, a textile technological centre in Belgium. There he started as a researcher in 1993 and become general manager in 2006.
With the help of his colleagues he has built Centexbel to what it is today. An organisation of 180 people with a solid reputation for its textile & plastics expertise and strongly embedded in the industrial reality. In 2014 and with great ambition, he has enlarged the expertise towards plastics by a merge with a technological center in plastics to exploit the synergies between the two sectors.
